Rick Horbury
Crop Science division of Bayer
Rick Horbury is Head of Market Development for the Crop Science division of Bayer in Australia and New Zealand. Rick is responsible for managing Australia and New Zealand’s market development team to support the strategic direction in driving sales across broadacre and horticulture.
Rick studied an Associate Diploma of Applied Science focussing on biology. Starting out with the CSIRO in 1993 as a Technical Assistant, he initially worked on marine invertebrates before transferring to entomology and specialising in aphid biology within broadacre cropping and pastures. In 2007, Rick joined Bayer as a Senior Development Specialist conducting field trials and writing reports to support the development of new and novel herbicides, fungicides and insecticides.
In 2008, Rick became a Technical Advisor for the Western Australian northern broadacre region. After eight years in the role, Rick became the National Manager of the Customer Advisory team, delivering technical knowledge and novel solutions to Australian broadacre and horticulture advisors and growers. In 2019, Rick was appointed to his current role as Head of Market Development for Australia and New Zealand.
Rick is passionate about innovation, bringing Bayer research and development to market and working with growers to improve production and profitability.
