It's a good-buy
for weeds
Balance 750 WG herbicide provides residual control of problem broadleaf and grass weeds in chickpea and sugarcane crops and in fallow situations. Balance will give you an extended period of weed control without the need for mechanical incorporation or immediate incorporation by rainfall or irrigation. It provides long-term residual control of many problem grass and broadleaf weeds including glyphosate tolerant feathertop Rhodes grass, sowthistle, fleabane and provides useful suppression of barnyard grass in fallow situations. Balance will also control Indian hedge mustard, turnip weed, wild radish and other problem winter broadleaf weeds in chickpea crops and give control of crowsfoot and guinea grass in sugar cane.

Question | Answer |
---|---|
1 Can I incorporate Balance? | Incorporation of Balance is not recommended. Weed control can be reduced if Balance is incorporated. Trial work has shown more consistent results when Balance is applied PSPE (post-sowing-pre-emergence) without disturbance after application. Because Balance should not be incorporated, it is not compatible with trifluralin. |
2 Why would I add simazine when applying Balance in chickpeas? | In chickpeas, the addition of simazine can provide control of an extended range of broadleaf weeds. |
3 What is the benefit of tank-mixing Balance and Soccer in sugarcane? | Balance and Soccer have a complementary activity spectrum, saving you time and money. For more information, please refer to the Balance in Sugarcane product bulletin. |
4 Can I use Balance as a post-emergent salvage spray in chickpeas? | No. Balance is only registered for post-sowing pre-emergent application. If Balance is used post-emergent, it could result in severe crop effects. Maximum residue limits for post-emergent applications are not established. |
5 Can I use Balance on other legume crops? | No. Balance will kill or severely damage most legume species, including lupins, faba beans, lucerne and lentils. |
6 Balance is registered in sugarcane for control of grass weeds; why not grass weeds in chickpeas? | Balance has very little, if any effect on the common winter grass weeds such as wild oats, annual ryegrass and phalaris. Simazine can be mixed with Balance to provide control of certain grass weeds. |
7 What are the minimum recropping intervals applying for crops following Balance application? | A list of the minimum recropping intervals for selected crops is provided on the product label. For advice on crops not listed, please contact Bayer Crop Science. |
This fact sheet ranks potential rotational crops in order of their tolerance to Balance herbicide. You can use it to plan your rotational crop options on paddocks where you used Balance last season.
